Important Note

- Add a 10g Boric Acid tablets (Four 2.5g tablets) prior to collection. 

- Adjust pH to <2.0  using 6 Normal Hydrochloric Acid ( 6N HCl) prior to analysis. 

- Record collection time and total volume.

 

Specimen Type

24-hour urine collection with 10g Boric Acid preservative added prior to collection.

Collection Instructions

Collect 24 hour urine sample into container with Boric Acid Preservative. Refrigerate during collection.

Specimen Volume

3 to 6 mL aliquot of 24 hour Urine preserved with Boric Acid

Specimen Processing

Invert 24 hour urine container several times to mix the specimen.
Aliquot 50 mL of a well-mixed 24-hour urine collection into a leakproof plastic urine container.
Aliquot 5 mL into a transparent red top tube, Adjust pH to between ≤2 with 6N HCl prior to analysis.
Record collection time and total volume.
Freeze 50ml Specimen Aliquot.
