Important Note

Preferred draw time for AM Cortisol is 0800.

Order CORAM for any specimen drawn between 0400 and 0859

This test may exhibit interference when sample is collcted from a person who is consuming a suppliment with a high dose of Biotin (also termed as vitamin B7, B8, Vitamin H, or coenzyme R). It is recommendfed to ask all patients who may be indicated for this test about Biotin supplementation. Patients shoul,d be cautioned to stop biotin consumptions at least 72 hours prior to the collection of the sample.

Preferred Sample: Lithium Heparin Tube (Mint Green Top, Dark Green Top)
Alternative Sample: Serum (SST, Gold, Corvac, Tiger, Red Top Tube)

Collection Instructions

Ideally specimen should be drawn at 0700. Must draw between 0400 and 0859. For single specimens drawn after 0859 please order a Cortisol random (Test code: CORRAN).
