Specimen Processing

Transport at room temperature unless transport will be delayed more than 12 hours, in which case, refrigerate the specimen.

Collection Instructions

Cervicovaginal swab in transport tube with buffer. A special Adeza brand collection kit is required for collection. Specimen must be obtained prior to digital examination. Care must be taken not to contaminate the swab of cervicovaginal secretions with lubricants, soaps, or disinfectants.

Rejection Criteria

Cotton swabs and culturettes.
