Clinical Information

Rheumatoid factor (RF) is an autoantibody against human immunoglobulin G (IgG) commonly present in high concentration in sera of patients with certain conditions, particularly in those with rheumatoid arthritis.

The measurement of RF may aid in the diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis. Rheumatoid factor may also be observed in systemic lupus erythematosus, Sjögren’s syndrome, cryoglobulinemia, chronic hepatic disease and other autoimmune and inflammatory diseases.
