Collection Instructions
Collect sample using the clean catch midstream collection procedure or urine cath bag. Maintain sterility. Submit sample in a yellow top urine tube or sterile plastic leakproof container and a grey top urine C&S preservative tube filled completely. If unable to collect enough sample to fill the grey top tube, submit sample in just yellow top tube or other sterile plastic leakproof container.

Rejection Criteria
Specimens that have been at room temperature longer than 2 hours; boric acid tubes. Any urine contaminated with fecal material or meconium.

Clinical Information
Urine is considered a “fluid biopsy” of the kidney and provides a wealth of information regarding the patient’s overall kidney and urinary tract health.
