Important Note

Certain sources such as genital, urine, and oral specimens should not be routinely cultured for fungus, but instead screened for yeast (Order code: CULTURE, YEAST SCREEN [LAB4535]). Blood for fungus testing should be ordered as Blood Fungus Culture (Order code: BCF)

Specimens must be labeled with culture source.

NOTE: This test includes Fungal Stain.

CSF, Body Fluid, Tissue, Corneal Scrapings: deliver immediately

Wound, Throat, Mouth, Ear, Vaginal: 48 hours (room temp or refrigerated)

Hair, Skin, Nail: 72 hours room temp
